Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 September 2026. This policy explains how Lyme Software Group Ltd, trading as Local Ear, uses personal information.
Who we are
Local Ear is operated by Lyme Software Group Ltd, a limited company registered in England and Wales. Our registered postal address is 3rd Floor, 86-90 Paul Street, London, England, United Kingdom, EC2A 4NE. This is a postal address and not a public visiting address. Information we collect
We collect information you provide when you create an account, manage a profile or publish an event. This may include your name, email address, profile photo, business profile details, event details, venue information, addresses, event images and website links. Venue addresses and event map positions may be stored so that Local Ear can show events in the right place.
Location information
If you use current location search, your browser may share precise latitude and longitude with the app. We use that precise location only for the active nearby search and do not store it as part of your account. We do not send precise current location, full postcodes or addresses to Google Analytics. Where analytics consent allows, we may record coarse search intent such as the town, city, region and distance range searched.
How we use information
We use personal information to provide the app, manage accounts, show and publish events, provide search and map features, secure the service, respond to support or data protection requests, improve Local Ear and send service messages. If you choose to receive marketing emails, or where the law allows us to contact existing users about similar services with a clear opt-out, we may also use your contact details for marketing.
Analytics and cookies
We use Cookiebot to manage cookie consent and Google Analytics 4 to understand how people use Local Ear, where traffic comes from and which features are useful. Google Analytics only runs where analytics/statistics consent allows it. Google may provide approximate location reporting from network information such as IP address, but we do not add precise current location to analytics events.
Third-party services
We use AWS Amplify, Amazon Cognito, Amazon S3 and AWS SES for hosting, authentication, storage and transactional email. We use Google Maps and Google Places for maps and location lookup, Google Analytics for analytics, Cookiebot for consent management and Stripe for business subscription and billing features. These providers process information for us or provide services that help operate Local Ear.
Legal bases
We process account and service information because it is needed to provide Local Ear and manage our relationship with users. We process some information for our legitimate interests in running, securing and improving the service. We use consent for non-essential cookies and analytics, and for marketing where consent is required. We may also process information where necessary to comply with legal obligations.
How long we keep information
We keep account, profile and event information for as long as needed to provide Local Ear, manage published content, handle support requests, meet legal obligations and resolve disputes. If you ask us to delete your account or content, we will delete or anonymise information where reasonably possible, unless we need to keep it for legal, security, accounting or dispute-resolution reasons. Backup copies may remain for a limited period before being overwritten.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the use of your personal information, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
